Two of three orphan Great Horned Owlets
One of the babies all grown up & ready to release
What a thrill it was to release these three owls! Three orphan Great Horned Owls came to Badger Run earlier this Spring. Two had been imprinted by their finder. We were unable to find a foster Great Horned family to renest them with locally so we turned to Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center in Grants Pass, OR. Wildlife Images has a fantastic Great Horned Owl foster mom who made sure these babies learned to be owls. They also worked to make sure these orphans were able to successfully hunt. We got the call that the owls were ready for release. So Badger Run volunteers made the 240 mile round trip drive to pick the trio up then released these beautiful owls back to their home range. You can catch their release & other videos on our Youtube channel.
